Reprinting any of the art or photographs on this site for commercial purposes is a violation of international copyright law.

Permission is granted for unlimited reproduction of these materials for any legitimate educational purposes with the following provisions:

  1. You may not charge for reproduction or distribution of these materials, nor may they be offered as an inducement to purchase any other product.
  2. You may not alter the materials in any way.
  3. You may not remove or alter the copyright notices
  4. You must reference "American Cetacean Society www.acsonline.org" as your source for any usage.
  5. You must credit any authors, illustrators, photographers, or other contributors listed as the author of the materials.

Exceptions regarding photographs, illustrations, and any other original works:

All photographs on the American Cetacean Society (ACS) web site are the property of the photographer, who has given us permission to use them. Permission for use outside of the ACS web site. must be obtained by contacting the photographer directly. ACS cannot grant permission for use of these photos. Photographer credits are on the bottom of each page where photos are used, with the photographers listed in order of their photo's appearance on the page. Credit to the copyright holder for photos is also given inside each image's title tag (except for collages).

All illustrations on the American Cetacean Society web site are the property of the illustrator, who has given us permission to use them. ACS can not grant permission for use of any of these illustrations. If you wish to use them on anything outside the ACS web site., you need to contact the illustrator directly. Credit for the copyright holder for illustrations is also given inside each illustration's title tag and in the individual page footers.

All other original works, such as, but not limited to animations, logos, essays, are used by specific permission of their owners, as listed in the page footer credits. ACS can not grant permission for use of any of these materials. You must receive prior permission from the owner(s).
